Definitely had some good food as we made our way through Barcelona. Even though our trip was pretty short, we made sure we had some delicious tapas, jamón ibérico, and churros! Pictured in order from the top:

  1. A small shop that sells Jamón ibérico, or “Iberian ham”, a type of cured ham produced in Spain and Portugal. (Wish I could remember the name of the shop! It’s somewhere near Le Ramblas.)
  2. “Cono Ibérico” a.k.a. meat in a cone! We had to get a taste and we were not disappointed.
  3. We went on a mission to find the best churreria in the city. We each got our own churros and hot chocolate.
  4. More churros on the street.
  5. Went to Sensi Bistro, stuffed our faces with tapas, and left that night in a food coma (a few of the things we ate: pictures #5 – 8). In this picture: “Pimientos de Padrón”, fried Spanish peppers with sea salt.
  6. Roasted potatoes with garlic aioli.
  7. Steak tartare.
  8. Tuna tartare. (I think? Can’t remember what kind of fish)
  9. Went to Local Bistro for lunch (pictures #9-10). Can’t remember what the dish with the Iberian ham on the left was called, but it was delicious! Had roasted potatoes with garlic aioli again – we can never get enough of aioli every time we’re in Spain.
  10. Baccalà and roasted vegetables. So good!
  11. Enjoying some bubbly back at our hotel. 🙂

La Sagrada Família – Barcelona, Spain

La Sagrada Família. Where do I even begin? I remember when I was studying for my art history class in university, and just how Gaudí’s work left a huge impression on me. The Gothic and curvilinear forms of his creations, his attention to detail, and how he played with light – I could say that I am a huge fan of his work. Even though the architect died years ago and the church is still under construction, it is a beautiful sight to see. If you’re ever in Barcelona, La Sagrada Família isn’t something you’d want to miss.

Casa Batlló – Barcelona, Spain

A throwback to my first trip to Barcelona! I’ve been several times to Ibiza over the years, but never had the chance to see the other cities in Spain, so for a weekend trip I had to make the most out of it.

First stop, Casa Batlló! It is undoubtedly one of the most well thought-out and beautifully designed houses I’ve ever seen. From every window to every light fixture, to each individual coloured tile in the house, and to how certain parts of the house reflect light – Antoni Gaudí had it all so meticulously planned out. To say the least, he did an extraordinary job at bringing Casa Batlló to life.
